A Volta-Inspired Workshop on Light and Beyond
The international event “New Trends in Photonics – A Volta-Inspired Workshop on Light and Beyond” will be held in Como from September 16 to 18, 2025. The event is promoted by the National Committee for the Celebration of the Bicentenary of the Death of Alessandro Volta in collaboration with the Department of Science and High Technology of the University of Insubria.
2025 marks the start of the bicentenary celebrations of the death of Alessandro Volta (1827-2027), a symbolic figure in Italian and global science. In this commemorative context, the first edition of the event "New Trends in Photonics – A Volta-Inspired Workshop on Light and Beyond" and the inauguration of CLIP take on an even more powerful meaning: projecting Como and its surrounding area toward the scientific challenges of the future, in the name of the illustrious physicist who began his research here.
The initiative “New Trends in Photonics – A Volta-Inspired Workshop on Light and Beyond” is part of the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, in particular: Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5) and Enterprise, Innovation and Infrastructure (SDG 9).
